56 year old man Sent to Hospital With Head Injuries

SOUTH BEND - A 56-year-old man was seriously injured when his car fishtailed and flipped over at the intersection of Cleveland Road and Portage Avenue around 6 p.m. Friday, police said.
The man was trapped inside a Chevy S10 pick-up truck when rescue crews arrived. He was wearing his seat belt, police said, but sustained head injuries.
After 20 minutes, medics were able to remove the man from the truck, and he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. His injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.
Witnesses told police the man was going east on Cleveland Road and began to fishtail as he approached Portage Road.
The truck apparently rolled three times before landing upside down on Cleveland Road, with the cabin partially crunched and the windshield shattered.
The man was lucky he wasn't killed.
